For quite a few years now, I have been prescribed 95mls of methadone on a weekly pick up basis.  I haven't used heroin for four years and only ever had sugared methadone as sugar free gives me a bloated stomach and flatulence!!  For the past three years, I have noticed that I have put on a lot of weight.  I even went from a size 8 to a size 12 in a matter of months but have not altered my eating habits.  Do you think that the high amount of sugared methadone is to blame for this?  Does anyone actually know what other long terms effects of methadone are?  Help!!!  I want to be thin again!

Hi Jessy
I hadnt forgotten you, but I have been trying to find the calorific content of sugared methadone for you
Not too much success, the Rosemont brand contains 0.9g per 5 ml of sucrose. I am not really into calories, so I am not too sure what that is. I am sorry that I have not had time to do more work on this for you, the companies that make it do NOT have a calorie measure for them.
I guess it would be like having the calories of a small glass of wine each day added to your over all calorie total.
I know that you have said that your diet hasnt changed over the year, mine hasnt either, but I have put on over a stone cos I have changed job. More sitting!!!

I was always 10-11 stone until 2 years ago, (since my drug use became less chaotic). Im 28 and currently 14 1/2 stone. I have put this weight gain down to my meth, but Im on sugar-free meth-125ml, so its obviously not to do with the sugar content.

Regarding your dress size, I think a size 8 is too thin, but a size 12 is more healthy looking (and attractive), but I appreciate its your body, and you have to be happy!!

WHAT ABOUT THE ALCOHOL LADIES?Huh???

I WAS ALWAYS A SIZE 8 BEFORE HEROIN & METHS.  NEVER DRUG ALCOHOL.  WAS ON HEROIN FROM 21 & METHS FOR THE PAT HOW EVER MANY YEARS.  NOW 30.  THE CHANGE TO A WOMENS BODY & WEIGHT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED & I WOULD HAVE NOT NOTICED IT.  HEROIN STOPPED MY GROWTH.  SO, WHEN I STATRTED EATING NORMAL AGAIN, MY BODY CHANGED.  IT WAS A SHOCK AS MY BODY WAS SUDDENLY A VOLUMPTUOUS WOMEN, NOT THE TEENAGE SHAPE.  THE NORMAL CHANGE FROM 21 TO LATE TWENTIES, WE MISSED.  I AM SORRY TO SAY, THE SIZE 8 TRIM SHAPE I HAD WILL NEVER BE AGAIN.  EATING NORMALLY AGAIN BROUGHT ON THE SIZE CHANGE THAT IS NORMAL.  IT IS JUST A SHOCK AS I HAD MISSED SO MANY YEARS.  I AM NOW A WOMEN, BUT WHEN MY MIND WAS WITH THE FLOW, I WAS A SLIM 21 YEAR OLD WITH A BODY TO DIE FOR!

I AM STILL THINKING MY NORMAL FIGURE IS A SIZE 8 BECAUSE I HAVE MISSED THE YEARS OF GROWING INTO A WOMEN.  ITS A SHOCK, BUT I AM TRYING TO DEAL WITH THE FACT I WILL NEVER BE A SIZE 8 AGAIN, & AM GOING TO CONCENTRATE ON EATING HEALTHY & TONING UP!

HOPE THIS MAKES SENSE, MY BRAIN STOPPED ALSO FOR THE YEARS ON HARD DRUGS!!!!

OH, & NOW I DRINK ALCHOL MOST NIGHTS & THIS MAKES US PILE ON THE POUNDS!

Immy, My nephews lead me to believe that if you type in capital letters it's seen as shouting in the new world of internet forums so best avoided.
best wishes

I was just being lazy typing in capitals!  didn't mean to look like I was shouting.  My hands are cold & my fingers have been slammed in a door when I was a kid, easier to type in capitals when the cold gets in fingers.

Please dont judge me for this!  I havent been on the forum for ages & wasnt told that I had to have a PHD in typing skills!

Any way, we have really gone off the main topic.  I thought what I had written was valid point on weight gain.  Didnt expect to get dissed on writing in CAPITALS.

Immy,
I wasn't judging you at all just offering the positive information younger people tell me is how to do things.
