I have started a new blog about the Alliance losing some of it's funding, and can people not see that all this anti MAR attitude is actually killing people?!

Go over and have a look, and hoipefully post some pro MAR comments!

Do you know what ,what ever you seem to write on Wired in (everyone)not just Saphh, you get a couple of replies and thats it.If it aint to their Agenda then it seems to me the most replies you get is only a few. After reading nearly  everything on Wired In, Recovery and Abstinence is the most common words made. All the best Froude

Froude, I know , I know, but I just keep thinking that if I don't keep putting at least something on there about how MAR can work, then the site is totally biased.
Michaela and David who run the site have been really nice to me, and have defended my "honour" if you like, when other people have posted nasty stuff, like I'm still a drug addict, I'm in denial, I'm not trying hard enough etc etc, so I have to give them props for that.

They have asked me to write a biography for the site, to show that used properly, maintenance prescribing does work, and I am going to do it, as it will hopefully show other service users that MAR can and does work, and if they feel they need to stay on it, there's no shame in it, and they shouldn't feel pressured by their CDT/DSP to reduce/detox if they don't want to.

Some of the posters on there seem quite supportive of MMT and have said some nice things to me, and actually been quite supportive, and quite "inclusive", but you always get the odd one who thinks that everyone must be abstinent 100% of the time and that methadone is the devils dandruff and if I just went to NA I'd be fine, and can be quite rude in their replies, but then you get a sensible person who will post after them, saying that everyone's recovery is different and they shouldn't be so dismissive and/or judgemental, which is nice that some of the other posters see that MAR can and does work.

But, to have at least a bit of pro MAR stuff on there, service users who read it will at least know (hopefully) that they needn't suffer a miserable abstinent existence if they don't want to (and I like to always say that there is this site called the Alliance that is a bit more "pro" MAR!!).

If there's nothing on there (Wired In) about maintenance, people who don't know about the Alliance may feel they are in the wrong somehow by staying maintained, and I want to show that they are not, and maintenance is great when applied properly!

This isn't an advert for Wired In (honest), but I feel if people post on there about how MAR has helped them, and they have "recovery capital"  Roll Eyes that it might change some people's opinions.

Or maybe I'm being very naive, but I hope not.

Plus it's one in the eye for the staunch XA purple brigade who HATE hearing about someone doing well on MAR, you can picture them reading my posts, sitting at their laptop, steaming, fuming and full of vitriol, so they then post something nasty, and you then get a sensible person telling them they are not being "inclusive", and that must make them madder than hell!  Grin
