Ad Astra at King's Cross is a less costly alternative. Check out:

BTW they are slightly more flexible about the 50 mile limit.

When I made an enquiry to the stapleford centre I got an email back from them saying that they did prescribe outside the 50mile radius, but for at least the first year you would need to live quite close due to the initial assesment & several visits that you would have to make in person to the centre in order for them to be comfortable enough to prescribe. They did say in their email that they had clients who were as far afield as Scotland, they were mostly people who had been on their books for a number of years & due to work or family reasons had moved outside the 50mile radius.
The travel costs would obviously make it unfeasible for even people who were on a decent salary once added to the costs of prescriptions, assesments, pharmacy charges.
I still think something similar could be available in most large cities in the UK. Allowing people more choice should they wish to pay for the services offered. Clinical Consultants would obviously tailor the charges to make it a profitable concern.
