Wild and Wonderful Whites

I watched this documentary on Current TV, The Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia, about a dysfunctional family living in the Appalachia area of America.
Very weird, and very interesting!
I also watched Capturing the Friedmans, about this 60+ year old teacher and his 19 year old son that were charged with peodaphilia, on some students in a computing class they taught. It is really weird, as the other brother/son, was convinced his dad and brother were innocent, eve though they both put in guilty please, and apparently admitted on seperate occassions to their respective defence lawyers that they had commited acts of abuse against children.
Quite hard to explian, but worth a watch.

I found " Capturing the Friedmans " really hard to sus out too sapph. I couldn't tell whether it had really happened, or whether the family had done some wrong in the community & this was how the community was getting rid of them. Their was so much conflicting evidence, if I remember correctley those condemed guilty had no real evidence against them apart from statements from years ago. No porn in the house & other pupils had nothing but the ordinary to say. It was weird, is the appeal still going on do you think or were they found guilty, been a while since I watched it & could well of been not at my most alert.

They were found guilty, the fatjher got 3 X 30 years, to run concurrent, an killed himself in jail, and the son got 18-30, and did I think 14, and is out now.
It is weird though, there was NO physical evidence, but then you have their defense lawyer saying they both admitted to acts of peodaphilia, and the mother knew something was amiss, as the father had told her he had had sex with his brother when they were younger!?
The only porn they found was the one "controlled delivery" magazine, that customs intercepted from the Netherlands, and that was what kicked the whole thing off.
Very weird.

Pair of nonces then, deserve worse than jail sentences if they did what was described. I don't suppose there would be much physical evidence if it was 30years ago though. There was something very weird about it though sapph, like you say. I'll maybe watch it again a little less stoned, don't think I was that out of it though (?), the only reason I can think of it was so weird was that it came out of the USA, I've got a sister in Texas & some of the stories she tells me are very weird also.
Apologies to any Americans, maybe you can explain our cultural differences

It's weird as when they did the original invrstigation in '88 there was no physical evidence, even at the time it supposedly happenned, and some of the other dstdents of his say they cannot believe he abused anyone, as he was 'normal' with them.
The whole thing left me feeling like there was something going on under the surface that the docu maker couldn't quite get to.
I don't think either of the 'sides' in the docu were being 100% truthful, and as such, who'll know what really happenned?
One of the kids who was allegedly assualted was interviewd as an adult for the docu, and his story was totally inconsistent, the docu interviwer pulled him up on it, and it all seemed a bit fishy really.

Yea I remember that. If it did happen then they deserved all they got, but it didn't come across as they definetly were guilty. In which case the american legal system would of made some kind of cover-story, maybe even involving a film...! I wonder what conclusion the doc. maker came to ( yet another thing I've forgotten, it has been a year
) if the documentary maker indeed did come to a conclusion ?
Very fishy indeed.
