Hi, and welcome to the Alliance.
If you are not ready to reduce your methadone, and it doesn't sound like you are if you're still using, then no-one can force you off a script.
You need to tell your CDT that you're not ready to reduce and want to remain on a steady dose.
They cannot force you off a script unless you've been violent orsomething equally extreme.
Can you ring the helpline and see if one of the Alliance staff could speak to your CDT for you?
The phone number is 0845 122 8608 .

That's crazy. I know at the 'short term' jail near me, if you are doing 2 years or less they will keep you on your script anyway. I think a lot of jails keep people on meth/subbies due to the amount of OD's from people leaving jail.
Even if you don't want to get the Alliance involved, it might be worth giving them a ring to see how you could best help yourself, if you see what I mean?

Tell them you are using to top up and you will need your script upped. If they fail to oblige then they must want you to fail.

Used to like monkey magic.....Pigsy!!
It does get better....take it at an even pace, if you feel shite, stop, level out and then start again-if that's what you want.
Personally I hate detoxing, for me it's a pointless excercise, because I always go back harder and faster-but that's me.
I guess it is trying to find yourself again, n bags of support....Good luck, chin up

Hello monkeymagic and Welcome to the Alliance.
Im not sure how long ago you were placed on methadone so can not give you a direct opinion. It sounds like you are experiencing withdrawal symptoms.
http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/releases/157258.php
You may be racing off your methadone dose too fast. Methadone is a substitute opiate and if you have been taking regularly and now have reduced at a fast level it will act very much like withdrawal or cold turkey from heroin. If you have been taking heroin as-well as methadone then that can also add to your misery. Speak to your DSP or your methadone provider and ask them to up your methadone dose at 5mls intervals at least every 4 days until you are at a dosage level you feel more comfortable with. Only then should you need to seek advice about reducing slowly (if that is your wish). If you want to up your dosage and stay in maintenance you need to tell your provider you wish to step up in 5ml stages per 4 days until you are comfortable and then level off and remain static at that dose.
Wish you all the best
John

Welcome to the site, Monkeymagic. Bravo to you.
I'm assuming it was your own determined decision to get abstinent and you're more than ready for it. As anyone who's been where you are will tell you, it's that drop from 10ml to zero that hits harder than all before it. Take it as slow as you like, on 10 or 15ml you're hardly offa yer head and can afford to take it a pace with which you are comfortable. Don't be affected by any of the silliness or hysteria that bedevils the subject; you can trust yourself to know what's best for you.
When you say you are alone, do you mean literally or that you're scared of the idea of life without dope? If the latter, don't be, it's only your perception that's changing. You've done tremendously well so far and I really wish you well in achieving what you're looking for.

It will get better mate. I came off 10ml sunday and ive no energy an feel just like you scared. We've been cocooned comforted for a long time. But honest to god each and every day gets better. I was on 10ml for too many years an it wasn't sorting me out i still felt rough on it. You've done really well so well done you. Your on a low dose now so cant they start you on the subutex if your ready for that. Ang x

If you get sentenced to 2yrs or less they will keep your script going in Prison, but you will stay at your local jail getting your Methadone, and that is only if you go in and give a sample,NO METAHDONE IN YOUR BODY NO SCRIPT IN JAIL,simple as that.Hope it goes well, all the best Froude

Monkeymagic: if you want to detox
then do it at a pace that suits you. If you want to change from methadone to subutex, then make sure you get the best professional advice on how to do this. Your GP at the DSP will explain. It takes a few days for methadone to leave your body and the doc will have to prescribe something to keep the withdrawals at bay until you are ready for Subutex. Subutex also blocks your receptors so closet using is not a good idea. Maybe that will be to your benefit if you do not want to use on the side. Myself I reduced with methadone and it is doable. Every one has their own preferred detox so good luck with it. ****Remember to**NEVER** take Subutex with methadone or you will become voilently ill for days.
