I'd stick with CAB if I were you froude. They fill similar forms in for people the whole time & know what's expected. If they're a decent bunch then they should help you get things sorted. I wouldn't like to say about back-pay , but all the best. Smiley

CAB or WHABAC are your best bet. Wonder if CAB could help a service user stay in MMT ?? Wishful thinking when the state treats you like a Tottenham Rioter for wanting to stay put..!! lol! Haven't the purple gang phoned your jobcenter+ advisor to see if they can have you transferred on to JSA so they can find and force you into work?! Haha Only a Joke Smiley

froude, if you're on ESA or IB  don't think you will actually get any carers allowance money. You will be officially registered as the persons carer, and that will entitle you credits against things like housing benefit/council tax benefit. If you are on a very low amount of benefits it might allow you to get extra income support, but if you get IB or ESA already and DLA I don't think you'll get any actual money.

My XH was on IB and my carer, he applied for CA, but apparently people on IB or ESA can be registered as the carer but don't get CA.

I might be wrong though and things might have changed in the last 18 months, so I'd check with CAB.

Also if you are entitled to any CA money I think the person you are caring for's benefits go down a little bit.
In this link somewhere it says about the persons money being affected if the other person is entitled to CA.

hi, im just going to add my expieience of carrers allowence, my son is on high rate for care and middle rate for mobility for his DLA, i went to the job centre and they have been telling me to put in for it for the last year and a half but i didnt because i just dont like my name being flaged up, but i thought this time they might get a bit sus to why i dont look like i need the money so i put in for it i was told anyone on middle rate for care or modility would be considered i went onto the website and filled in the 2 second form 3 day later i got the award letter, at the top of the for you can put in for 3month back date but you will need to type that in there is a space for it.  You end up with about an extra £30 a wk they take money off your income support and its made up with the extra carrers allowence, its your choice but its a really easy form, good luck whatever you decide.

Oh also i dont know if this matters to you but with the knew changes once your youngest child turns 7 your no longer exempt from working, but on carrers allowence you are, that was my main reason for going for it in the end.

Hope this helps
take care

The problem with the C.A.B is that its a lottery if u get a decent person or not. I've had really helpful advice, but the last time me & my carer went there, the lad we seen was that bad my carer told him 2 fuck off & get a job where he doesn't deal with vulnerable people or people full stop.

That was a while ago, I havnt been since but someone I know who is more than capable of working (if there was any jobs that is), is blagging he is an alcoholic & the lad at the C.A.B he's going to knows he's on the blag but is helping him fill the form in.
