Answers on a postcard please

Im a bit annoyed at the moment, I did say in another post that my CDAT kept trying to put me off reducing as fast as I wanted to and as a reult (possibly because I hate confrontation) that I go home ruduce how i want to reduce (and I might add I have got down to 7.5mg from 50mg pretty well
) They say things like *rubbing chinn n sighing* nah nah dont d it like that. I am tipping extra meth down the sink which isnot cool (hate wasting stuff) Also my CDAT have recently imformed me that they wont prescribe me anything else nothing to help me detox they basically said go see your GP
I thought they were in the buisness of drug addiction. they basically got me addicted to a far more powerful drug than i was initially addicted to (codeine phosphate
) AND digging their heels in when I want off!! FFS!!!! anyways my question is as I have enogh Methadone to get me off myself and they wont scribe me anything to help should I bother going back??? Im having my doubts about them I must say
peace out homies

AllOUT,Tipping your Methadone down the sink (are you insane lol),why dont you keep it for a rainy day ?,as they say "YOU NEVER KNOW".What you describe about your D.S.P are they on a different planet to the rest of us ,well seems like they are going down the same lines as my Provider. My D.S.P were writing scrips out for me as i suffer from depression,I was picking up my normal script for my meth and Benzo's and also Citalopram(antidepressants),my script ran out for the Citalopram so i rang them up to ask for new script and they said they had not been scripting me for it ,it must be my Doctor. It wasnt, as they had a massive stamp on it saying S.D.A.S,(my Mental Health Team)the pharmacist got involved ,anyway it turned out that they had no paper work for my perscriptions of Citalopram,a complete fuck up on their part, they then pushed it on to my doctor who was not a happy chappy over all this paper work that had not found, they were also digging their heals in saying it wasnt them until the doctor sent them a script that had their stamp on it .It really does mess with your head when they do that ,as i was under the impression they were there to help ,not call me a liar,to me they are all the same things they say they will do ,but at the end of the day you feel you are on your own or if you want to do something that benefite you ,they dont back you up,BASTARDS.Have a good weeekend ,all the best Froude

Although they are admittedly mot being very helpful I would think carefully about giving them the elbow.
If you do and you then find yourself back in trouble for whatever reason, they may take a long while to get you "back on the books", and if you have left them of your own volition then no GP is probably going to help.
If it were me, I'd stay at least until you've finished your home detox. Also, don't pour the methadone down the sink, doing this lets it get into the water table, either keep it for a rainy day or take it back to the chemist when you have finished the detox.
I know what you mean about them though, my DSP do catsbum face every time I say something they don't like!

If the CDAT don't know how low you are down on the meth, that's probably why they won't script any Lofexidine or sleepers (they won't give you benzo's, it'll be more like Zopi's for sleep).
Tell the CDAT how low you have got and that you
are
going to come off, but would prefer to do it with their help.
If you put it like that and tell them you're certain that you want to do it like this as you know your body best, then I'm sure they'd at the very least give you some lofexidine, then you could tell your GP that CDAT know you're doing a home detox and can he give you some sleepers please.

They told me that doesnt matter how low i get down to My question to them was when Im down to a very small amount and come off is there anything you can help with and they wont script anything his actuall words were " No we dont give other things here see your GP" so its not a case of the amount Saph, And i wouldnt mind Zop's or ANYTHING TBH. so my point is if they wont why should I go back whats the point of them?

I would think then, if that is the case, that you need to approach your GP.Tell him/her that you are down to whatever ml of the methadone and plan to stop when you reach 2ml and would like some blood pressure and sleep meds to assist you in the detox period.
If you had reduced your methadone in line with what your CDAT thought was "best", would they have given you the detox meds then? It seems a bit churlish of them to deny you medications to assist in your detox just because you are doing it at a different pace to what they think is "best".
Is it the case that they want you to maybe have a "detox plan" type thing, like I'm going to stop taking my methadone at xml on xday, it could be that they want you to have a definate plan rather than winging it?
If you have gone to them and said, 'I am now on xml/day, when I get to yml/day next zday I am going to start detoxing and will not take anymore methadone after this day', and they have still fobbed you off then that is really shitty.
I would still see the GP though, and tell him/her that the CDAT have refused you any meds to asisst with the detox.
It could be the case that they refer everyone to their GP for any extra meds they might need for detox.
If it were me I'd ask for lofexidine, sleepers and immodium or buscopan which is good for stomach cramps.
I think you might have a problem getting Lofexidine from your GP though, as your blood pressure has to be monitored regularly so they may not be comfortable to just hand it out. Most of the people I've know who've had it prescribed for home detox's have had the nurse from whatever GP practice they are with come round to check their BP everyday, but that might not be the case in your area.
They really don't sound much use at all at your CDAT, but, if I were you,I'd wait until after you've done the detox before fucking them off as until you start going through the withdrawals and whatnot, you really don't know if your going to be successful, and at least if you don't manage it you still have them to fall back on for a script, whereas if you fuck them off now and fail at the detox you could end up stuck.
Whatever you do though, I hope it goes well for you. You seem like you've got your head in the right place and that is a lot of the battle won already.

Perhaps a practice nurse would check the BP if the GP is willing to prescribe lofexidine.

ALLOUT,YEAH once you start getting all your them feelings and emotions coming out ,and nothing like a moggie script to help you makes me mad .I know they got this thing on benzos at the moment, only perscribe for 2-3 weeks and then take you off them, even if they would just give you something for the insomnia, youd be getting somewhere,as said it seems your CDAT are walking the same road as mine smetimes does.Saph has a good point(as usual lol)maybe it if you had went with your CDAT they would begelping you now.It seems pretty lame if that is their reason,as you detoxed and did it yourself ,your on your own type of thing,it makes me puke knowing there is help out there and they wont give you anything for your insmomnia.Dont let them grind you down,All the best Froude

Don't you think that's why they won't prescribe the detox meds yet then, as they think you're on a much higher dose and nowhere near ready to come off?
If you tell them you got down to single figures and are ready to stop in a couple of weeks and show them you have a "plan" in place do you think they might be a bit more receptive?
If not then agree, they are shit!

My GP has prescribed me short courses of DFF when I have reduced in the past, starts reducing you immeadiatley, seeing it has a shorter half-life than meth & is a lot weaker it does help some people. 3 week course something like that after you finish your meth script.
