There is a blog on Wired In, I know, I know, hear me out!!
They are wondering why more people on maintenance scripts do not post on Wired In.
I have added my 2 cents, under sapphire99, but thought I'd link to it so you all can read it and post there if you feel like tellin them that people on MMT aren't granny robbing 3 headed couch potatoes.

Have they vetted it yet ? I wasn't going to look for a couple of days. I remained civil, as far as I'm concerned that should be enough for your post to be deemed acceptable.
Did you read the page about Professor Nutt ?

Haha me too Sapph - but the blog you gave us the link to was the one I replied to too. The guy is name is Kevin and he has started his own group up after not receiving adequate support from Alcoholics Anonymous - so he set up his own. But then I think he had one about Alliance members and Methadone Maintenance Users and MMT advocates not wanting to log on with Wired In because they take a more Recovery and Abstinence stance. Anyway I did sign in and left a reply to one of his blogs but might have replied to the right user but wrong blog because I had to sign in again as there was a problem with accessing my new password. The reason I linked to that particular blog was that the guy who runs Weird In posted in the commenst section that he would like to see more people on MMT posting on Weird In.
I posted that the site was not very MMT friendly and that people prob didn't feel welcome, and he emailed me to say he would look into it, whether he will or not is another matter.
Apparently, he does feel long term MMT is vaild, shame the site is so abstinence focused.

Most of the members of Wired - In would probably ignore my comments anyway as I would be counter to their ideology (Abstinence & Recovery ). The site sponsors are key drivers for the recovery agenda. I only scrolled through the bloggers profile index and every last one of them were telling how well they have done and set up their own global businesses and set up clinic groups. That was enough for me already. I am all for success and life after maintenance but only for those that are willing and inspired and most importantly settled. The whole site reeks up to high heaven of success stories through abstinence and how their nightmare on methadone and alcohol nearly drove them to suicide. I thought my comments wouldn't be valued on there. John

Thanks to anyone that posted. I don't expect people to
keep
posting there (unless they want to obv.) but the site admins asked for the views of people in MMT.
If no one had posted you could just imagine their comments "well, that's it then, no one posted so therefore there are no people who are thriving on MMT".
He did say in a PM to me that he would try to make the site more MMT friendly, but as their sponsors are abstinence based rehabs I doubt that is going to happen.
Me saying that I'm bumbling along nice and happy and content with my MMT, or some person all shiny new and abstinent and full of the joys of spring, just doesn't compare in terms of advertising and the almighty £.

No problem Froude..And regarding posting on Wired -In Sapph... I was told that my post could not be posted unless I added my photo to my new profile. Although I wasn't looking to become a member I just wanted to reply to that topic. The wired-in site would be a good tool for the up- and moving ex-addicts. In-fact I have heard a majority of them work in the public sector or voluntary sector, and than a few are family members of addicts. There is a very anti maintenance vibe to the site and also heavily pushing for the recovery agenda and to remove maintenance. Although some say they will sympathise with methadone users wanting to stay on maintenance. They raleigh around each other to put a stop to maintenance and instead put in its place a rigid reduction framework and throw everyone in the volunteer service so they can make cash off addicts. As their main site information explains. Giving back to society but really its a big money making scam. Why do you think they are all so for the 'Recovery Agenda'. Everyones happy except the poor addict.

That's weird usandthem, they do review comments that you post but I haven't got a photo on my account and it hasn't stopped me posting.
Lots of people have avatars instead of actual photos anyway, due to provacy and whatnot.
The guy that runs the site did converse with me via email, with me telling him how un MMT friendly the site was, and him telling me that was not his intention and that he thought all methods were vaild, bit the site is sponsored by a load of abstinence based rehabs, so I doubt he's going to start singing the praises of maintenance prescribing.
It is all a bit suspect really, there are only a few regular posters on there that are actually recovering addicts, the rest work in the field, so I would imagine they could pass off posting on there as "work".
It's a bit sad I think, that treatment should be so polarised and instead of benefitting the addicts that are the DSPs' raison d'etre, they seem to end up talking "recovery", instead of actually asking what we want!
You can't trust us though, we'd all rob our granny's.......
