"faithful" by marianne faithful

i've just recently finished reading dear ol' marianne's auto-biog' "faithful" for the second time and it's such a good read. obviously there was a degree of interest due to her having been a pretty well publisized smack-head but that aside it's a brilliant book. what can i say? other than, what a woman! her life has been an incredible journey. much of it made so due to her addictions. talk about falling from a high height, from living a luxurious life on cheyne walk in chelsea to dossing in bombed out buildings in soho. i can't recommend it enough and she's just fabulous!

Although, like Keef and Anita, she was quite well known on the London smack scene, I don't think Marianne ever lived on a wall in Soho. That's a bit of endearing whimsy. She was very shy and deferential in the company of other users, tho, and surely has the stories. Such a pity the libel laws make most of them unsuitable for pubication.

i don't think she claimed in the book that she ever actually "lived" on the wall derek. she spoke a bit about sitting about by a wall by day with other junkies and mrth's drinkers. i think "the wall" was a kind of urban myth made up by the press etc. great book though as i say.

.... HAHAHA.... i hate the idea of there being drugs out there i haven't had the chance to try. luckily (or not, lol) i think my repertoire is pretty broad, HAHA. i'm sure most bases have been covered. when it came to drugs i've always felt like there was some sort of list in my mind i wanted to go through checking these mind bending substances off as i went. lol. however, don't you worry about "mrth" 'cos as it doesn't exist it can only be a let down, LOL.

Yes I think I can say the same Tim, also before the kids were born I was on a mission to holiday in most of the major drug producing areas of the world ha,ha! Never made it to Afghanistan, either the soviets were there , taliban or now allied forces ( don't know who they're allies to
most Afghanis don't want them there anymore ). Got as far as Pakistan by way of a bit of a working holiday, probably paid over the odds for gear compared to what the locals paid. I would've paid twice as much though & still been a very happy stoned man LOL! Needless to say the work took longer than it was expected to, our excuse was always waiting for materials, which we were. Managed to fill in the time very nicely indeed. Never had gear anything like that in Europe, that's for sure. Morocco was a very relaxing place to go also. That's all been put on the back burner for now anyway. Till the kids grow up & can fend for themselves, expensive little buggers they are. Wouldn't not have them for the world though, love them more than I ever thought possible.
