I read this a week or so ago on DS Daily and as I'm in Australia I looked into it further and discovered the following organisation for carers and families of people who use drugs.

http://www.fds.org.au/

Just thought people might be interested. I found it encouraging that the government is funding projects to maximise family/carer involvement, support and services.  This service has just expanded into Queensland.

I was dismayed at the response from some people to the article though but it's probably on a par with England I suppose. Ignorance is global.

Take care

Looking at the quotes section it seems some people in Aus are as judgemental as the idiots here.

Agreed. It always makes me cringe to read hateful comments like that. I suppose it's lack of education, experience  and compassion for another human being.  Some people need a scape goat to attach all their their negativity and discontent to and will pick on the easiest prey.

More education is needed - mostly when people understand and see the bigger picture with regards to drugs and addiction treatment they are ok - you will always get a few judgy mcjudgepants idiots everywhere though - they seem to talk louder than everyone else!
