encase anyone didn't know a copy of this classic book is available read by the auther on c.d. i realize talking books aren't everyone's cup of tea but this one sounds great, i guess in part due to mr burroughs charismatic and distinctive voice. i read the book several times years ago and really loved it. then, not long ago i came across this c.d. release and gave it a go, loved it too. it's published by pengiun and i highly recommend it, both to those who are into burroughs and those who have not yet read him.... brilliant!

i really can't recommend it enough. it really is a seminal book, a classic. i think any opiate experienced person will be able to relate despite it being set in a different era. i love it

have you seen the movie "drugstore cowboy" froude? i'd suspect you would have, most heroin users have haven't they? lol. anyway, if by any mad chance you haven't. dear ol' mr burroughs has a little cameo roll in it. playing the part of a heroin addicted preist. he's pretty unmissable. he's a kinda hero to a lot of smack users really, he's definately one of mine. he's written some fab stuff aside from the famous "junky" so i'd suggest you have a look at his stuff in general. he's a brilliant writer. not to everyone's taste i'm sure. a lot of his stuff is a tad bizarre and he seems to have a preoccupation with metamorphosis but i've usually enjoyed anything i've read by him. he's a really interesting guy. well, he was, he died in the 90's.

I went to the library to get this book last year.....the librarian looked and looked and said to me, oh I think it may have been taken(stolen) my dear, as it is on the system, but it's not here. We both looked for it across 3 Big long shelves......'it often happens with popular books' she told me.....Typical, always the popular books have legs
