Just watched this stunningly effective documentary about the American War [The Viet Nam War] made in 1973 - no commentary whatsoever, just a series of intertwined short sections.
News reports, interviews with then Viet Nam War hawks and doves, politicians, veterans, anti-war protestors and pro war members of the American public, POWs, North Vietnamese Army, ARVN, Vietnamese people and on.

The film is edited in such a way as to be labelled anti-war but don't let that puts you off - just watch it.
There is shocking interview with Westmoreland after the film shows screaming Vietnamese kids who'd lost their parents and a moving and shocking section showing a Vietnamese woman screaming uncontrollably as she tries to climb in the coffin of her child as ARVN bury it and have to restrain her. Straight after that Mestmoreland [William Westmoreland was the General that oversaw the war for 6 years when it was at its most criminally barbaric] is interviewed and says ' ..the oriental doesn't value life like westerners, life is cheap in Vietnam, life is plentiful there, and they have large families so it is no big deal if they die'

Ok not family viewing, but it is and remains not only one of if not the best documentary ever made but in my opinion one of the best films ever made full stop.
Horrific, but you must see it.

What channel did you see it on ? I take it the above is the title of the documentary. Watching stuff like that I find helps put things in perspective. We all agree that we deserve better treatment for our choice of substance use & changes to archiac laws that make drugs like weed illeagal. But when it comes down to it I'd rather spend the rest of my life in withdrawls than see any of my children be harmed in such a way.

Agree about war - they say if dead people could talk they would be no war....
Not sure myself, human beings being what they are an all, I figure some of these warmongering fucks could get a war going from beyond the grave... :/
