(SATIRE ONLY)Shit me. I would be happy if my key only saw me for 10 seconds a year. lol! Well my last one anyway (hehe). Be careful what you wish for.!! Never let them know too much about you. Keep them out of your head lol!. Give them little snippets to go on with to give them something to put in your care plan until your next appointment. Keep from them that if there was a sport for alcohol and narco consumption - you would be playing at the international level. Everytime they want you to reduce demand that your dosage isn't holding you and you want to be upped. See if that works. lol

True froude, but if its a key-worker who really wants to help you in a hollistic way then yes, empty your thoughts on to them. But if the key-worker is target driven and you have your suspiscions - then hold back on giving them something they can use against you at a later date. I did say it was only satire but then again I always keep some things back from the keys. Good luck we all seem to be sorted with new key-workers. Happy days. I hope our rants got sent up the commissioners ladder to the very top as this 'getting folk to reduce' for targets is totally wrong and should be pulled out of dat commissioning. Peace everyone

Froude. Im not sure whose idea it was probably a panel of people involved here- read the rodt nta document.
http://www.nta.nhs.uk/uploads/rodt_an_interim_report_july_2011.pdf
The document itself supports users who want to stay in maintenance. It also thinks users should be allowed to prosper from their service instead of just being parked in their service without any intervention or help to succeed further. It values maintenance equally as much as reduction and rehabilitation. Its just some key-workers use this word recovery to their advantage in coaxing users to reduce from the medication that allows them to be stable and the evidence base supports that maintenance is key in keeping some users stable.
The NTA is a great start. Ultimately the Government big guns are the key drivers. David Cameron and Andrew Lansley, DofH.gov or Public Health England as they are now known. Other than that it may help to contact the commissioning body of your local primary care trust. You should skip the email to the PM and his NHS demolition grinder Lansley has it probably won't reach them. Similarly the email to DofH/PHE will just get ignored. Please try though as it might just get through, but unlikely. DAT commissioners also but again your Email may get lost in translation. You will find some links in the Consultation thread. or CRI coaxing a disgrace. Me myself I just went straight to the service to air my concerns. It worked. Good luck Froude. John

Froude is it an NHS CPN that you see, if it's not to tactless
. My CPN who I occasionaly have to see is NHS, as far as keys go I tell them what they want to hear. Just the usual, works shit, talk about the footie even. I've told him that in no uncertain terms I am not reducing. TThe GP who prescribes the meth sometimes works alongside me & can see that even on the dose I'm on that I function well, better than without opiods I think myself. So he's come to an agreement with me that he asks what dose I want & if I want to stay maintained it's fine by him.
Any problems I have I see my CPN about who I am very honest with, I've had the same one from the coke psychosis days so we get on pretty well, he knows me & cannot divulge any information to the CDT about my drug use which apart from prescribed meds, is the odd binge on diamorph amps a bit of gear now & then if it's good ( I'm usually at the dealers door the first sign of an overdose, not very pc but it means it's decent ?? ) as he is NHS & I have not signed a consent form.
As for my key he is just someone who takes up 1/2 hour a month & is generally told him what he wants to hear, that I'm a saint. I told him when I discussed it with my prescribing GP that he could talk about reductions about every 6 months, so far so good !
So if your CPN is NHS don't sign a consent form if you don't want to. A CPN will do you more good than a key for sure....something about medical training I think.
Then you can just tell key that you want to stay stable. I hope it's as easy for you as that, CRI don't employ their own CPNs do they!?
