Simple solution: add the sender to your ignore list.

Go to Profile and then to Personal Message Options.  You can then type the sender's username into the box and not receive any further messages from them.

If you do this and the person tries to message you, they will see the following message: “User '[yourusername]' has blocked your personal message”, so only use this function if you’re happy for someone to know that you’re shunning them.

I can't believe it's taken the best part of five years for me to work out that this is possible.  I've known glaciers move quicker than that.  Apologies.

Even simpler. Don't send PM's that are likely to offend.
