Getting back to the subject of bank notes, I really can't see any English dealers refusing Scottish currency. After all the big boys aren't renowned for their high moral standards! The scousers that bring up gear to my neck of the woods certainly aren't complaining of the large bundles of cash that they are regularily being paid with & if you think about it they can easy get the currency "cleaned" on there way back down through Scotland one way or another.

I see your point on Scottish notes & then getting some dodgy accountant 2 get large sums of various currencies cleansed (obviously 4 commission). Since I started this thread, my pharmacy of all places has put up a sign saying: 'Due 2 the large amounts of counterfeits in circulation, we can no longer accept Scottish & Irish notes'

Hey OP8S, when I was reading about your prescription pre-payment certificate I was just thinking that you guys down South are still having to pay full whack for your prescriptions. I know in Wales they're free to everyone, and Scotland are going the same way in the next few months, not sure exactly when as I don't pay due to being on benefits, but at the mo they're 3 or 4 quid, not sure which. This is one area where it's ridiculous that the really well off don't have to pay anything at all - especially with all the cuts we're being told have to be made. I'm sure if they put it back to the way it was in Scotland and Wales it would save a decent bit of much needed cash. You know, the only good thing I can see about the Tories being in power (no point in mentioning the Lib-Dems; they're superfluous) is that the cuts will be so severe after 5 years they won't be put back into power. Only 4-and-a-half years to go then guys...(I guess I'll be pilloried for saying this, but knowing that they're going to be really unpopular after all the cuts, and still going ahead regardless, is actually pretty damn brave)

From what I could make out from my pharmacist was that they were still intended to be reduced to nil in April, but as she put it "who knows what will happen between now & then. Personally I wouldn't mind to much as the last pre-payment voucher lasted 1 year & cost me £64 approx. If you think of 352 doses of a class A drug, 3x monthly repeat prescriptions from my Local Health Centre, as well as 2 different ointments to treat psciriocis(sp?)...(ithchy dry skin & scalp) to pay that or something similar, no more! Paying £3 an item , even when one was the same medication but at a different strength? It was certainly worthwile paying with a pre-payment voucher. Previously £64 would have be gone in a few hours, you no the size of the bags we're talking!
The NHS is one Government body that I don't mind putting my hand into my pocket for...would even give them a few quid extra to be taken of methadone & onto a different opiate!!!
I'm not a wealthy man though & the NHS " should " treat every patient with the same dignity than the last no matter what their financial situation is, so if they give me my drug of choice to be maintained on then they would have to give everybody the same treatment ( though they would class it as a priveledge!?). I'm sure.
Looking at it from a very simplistic way, people are always going to take opiates, these people are best cared for by being provided with a similar substance prescribed to them by their GP. Some of those people will find a stable level & may continue to stay on that for the rest of their lifes, some may want to start an immeadiate reduction & others may at some time decide that they don't want to have to continue taking their prescription, making up a slow reduction plan. For anybody wanting to reduce whether it's a fast detox or a slow detox moving onto other drugs perhaps their should be adequate CDT's available to the user. For people quite happy to stay maintained on their dose & medication then a simple visit to your local GP every three weeks would surely suffice?
This would free up a lot of drug-workers time & money by giving people unwanted visits where you end up talking about the price of fuel, the weather ets. & they would be able to focus on helping the user that is wanting to become drug free?
Gone off on a bit of a rant there?!
Anyway, I'm proud to pay for my meth! When I think of the money that I have blown on drugs a mere £64 is worth it for the meth alone!

I thought Scotland had abollished prescription charges?.I think its unfair that were supposedly the 'United Kingdom',yet Wales get free scripts,Scotland get subsidised-soon 2 be free scripts, whilst in England we are charged 7.20 per item.

We're the United Kingdom when the good old chaps at the BBC decide that we are, or when the PM decides to send a bunch of young lads to die in another country because the yanks ask us to...any othertime we're Sottish or Welsh.LOL! If middle England stopped voting Tory then your prescription charges might go down.
Even if in Scotland our prescription charges don't go down then I'll still be happy to pay another prepayment voucher for another year, if only to fend off NHS cuts.

Agree with you on that one Tomo, although they aren't quite free in Scotland yet, unlike Wales. It is pretty unfair. But if it were up to Scotland and Wales, as OP8S says, there wouldn't be a Tory government. But we don't count, and us being devolved suits the Tories fine. Although am I right in saying it was Labour who pushed the price up to 7.20?

I dont wish 2 get political, but its no secret that some Scottish/Irish people hate the English, frankly I dont blame them, but the last post I made reminded me of an incident when I was on holiday in Faliraki in 2002..I was in a nightclub and when u went in there was a guest book that u could write what u wanted. The girl in front of me wrote 'Glasgow girls on tour,we hate the English. After reading what she said,I said thats not very nice, and she replied by giving me a kiss and saying we like scousers & Geordies,we just hate the rest..

OB8S, I 2 get a pre-payment certificate, because I dont qualify 4 free scripts, not including my 2xmeth scripts per month,I also get another 14 items per month,so it makes sense. But I pay 9+ per month,so I dont know if it is cheaper 4 Scotland. I know mine is administered in the North East somewhere..

Basically if you live in Scotland & are prescribed anymore than two items on a regular repeat prescription, obviously including methadone, then you are cheaper forking out for the pre-payment method of payment. This covers any extra prescriptions that are made within the time limit also.

OB8S, When I read one of your previous posts on this thread, I admittadly didnt read it fully, & have just noticed your comment on the UK's relationship with America. I totally agree we are Americas lap dog. The amount of young lives that have been wasted in the pointless war in Afghanistan is sad & pointless. Although I am deffo no Tory, I agree with David Cameron in being annoyed & embarrased that he was contacted by the british authorities about the bomb scare at East Midlands airport almost 12 hours after they had contacted the Americans..
