Today the Home Office launched a targeted consultation on the new drug strategy http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk/publications/consultations/cons-drug-strategy-2010/. This provides an early opportunity for all stakeholders to contribute to the development of the new drug strategy.

Please forward to colleagues and contacts you feel may have an interest in the consultation and may want to respond.

The consultation is open for 6 weeks until 30 September. Responses can be submitted via the consultation online form, by email to DrugConsultations@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk.

Ministers have agreed the new strategic vision and broad themes for the Drug Strategy which will set the framework for the future delivery of drugs policy. The government plans to publish the future drug strategy in December 2010.

Just bumping this thread to say that the deadline for this is today and that if you've got views about what should happen next it's a very easy consultation to engage with.

This coaltion government dont look very sympethtic towards those that have been addicted to hard drugs long term- they think that by "cutting" off addicts benifit allowances would get them to do more to get well, clearly thats not true, methadone is such an addictive sub for heroin that, in atual fact, its MUCH harder to come off than H itself.
