That is how I ended up taking methadone-I have never used heroin.
Tomo you said you have never used heroin and as were being honest in the question'methadone blocking the effect of heroin', you said "i have only used heroin a couple of times and you talked about how your friend got stoned, but you didn't "even after smoking nearly a gram".
tomo im not putting the boot in to you but if you want help from the forum then you yourself have to 'be honest' there is nothing to be ashamed of we are all here for the same reason.
Take Care
Tomo i really do wish you all the best but you cant go about picking at everything that people say as 60DEGREESNORTH say we are showing a really bad side of the forum at the moment, this is the last comment i will make on the subject, i just want to move on , start a fresh i dont know just call a truse, anyway whatever you deside look after yourself

Are you saying that you started buying methadone of the black market to stabilise your mood swings?? As there is no psychiatrist that would prescribe methadone for depression whether it is bi-polar or uni-polar. Methadone is a substitue prescription drug for addiction & also used as a pain killer though in much smaller doses. What made you think of buying meth off the streets for what is a psychiatric condition? To answer your question though I have seen countless psychiatrists, CPN's & for a period of time never seemed to be out of the NHS Mental Health Dept. Each psych. having their own diagnosis depending on there own beliefs, training etc. Most of them never bothered reading what the previous one had thought. I came to the conclusion that it was some form of elitism between them after being diagnosed with both uni-polar, bi-polar or when I was a kid reactive depression. They all want to label you with their own ideas, in the end I got sick of it after seeing an Italian Psychiatrist who wanted to send me to a rehab unit in Ireland or Italy which was run by nuns, she told me that no funding was needed as " God would provide", it was at that point that I told her where she could stick her rehab & I only go to my CPN appointments now. I do find that methadone stabilises my moods but I also take other medication. Also I don't label myself, I am a person in my own right with my own personality. Mostly good I think. A label is just a label, whoever you are, whatever you are it is all to easy to hide behind it & use it as an excuse for the things we do in life. When we are dead & gone people will remember us for how we made them feel inside, I generally try to help people as I know what it is like to feel like there is nowhere to turn.

Maybe if you have not been addicted to heroin & just use your methadone as a mood stabiliser for your bi-polar depression then you might find that you would get more from a forum based on mental health issues tomo? No offence but you might find more like minded people who can empathise with you more than the folk on this site who have obviously had different life experiences to you?

Raven, my advice is that you find out as much as you can about this guy, and on the quiet if possible. I hate to say it but it doesnt sound like he's stable on his script to me, some of the behaviours you describe sound to me like someone using crack. Getting agitated and wound up over seemingly small things is classic behaviour of an addict not getting what he wants, when he wants it. Alternatively he may just be a wanker with a bad attitude. Methadone alone would rarely if ever cause someone to act how you've described(in my experience, I'm not a doctor/pharmacist)
If she were one of my daughters I'd be using evry means at my disposal to suss the guy out, like, Does he have a group of friends? How's he thought of amongst his mates/peer group? Has he done any jail?/what for?
Is he local all his life or drifting town to town? What's his family background? stufflike that. If what i started hearing wasn't good I'dgo to plan A, Trying to show my daughter the truth and get her to see him for what he is, this usually works best when she believes she's worked it out for herself so be as subtle as you can. Plan B, would mean this hasn't worked and therefore the time for direct intervention would be afoot, this should envolve significantly increasing his chances of suffering a nasty accident. Sorry but family is family is family and I for one simply could not allow one of 'mine' to suffer violence at the hands of a cock like that.
