After reading this weeks issue of the DDN which i registered through ClaireDDN, i thought that i would let people know about, the first ever Recovery Weekend which is being held in Glasgow it will consist of a conference, workshops, big welcome, service users seminar followed by a recovery walk the date will be 24-25 September and for more information e-mail-
info@recoveryacademy.org
i will certainly be looking into this and hopefully it is open to the public im sure it will be.

I have signed up to be a steward on the day but now i have done this i am feeling really nervious and im wondering if there will be a problem in the fact that i am an addict because in the information pack i was sent apart from keeping everyone in two's along the road and directing them round the route etc, one was to hand in any lost property and i know for a fact that if i found someones purse or wallet in my stabble state i would not even have to think about what i would do, i would hand it in, but will other people see me like that and if someone does loose something major will i be suspect number one, maybe we will be pair up which would proberly suit me better but it didnt say that although im looking forward to being part of the whole thing although im not going to the conference i just felt to shy to go on my own and couldn't find anyone that was interested to accompany me but im happy to help in the way i can, proberly me just worrying about nothing again but it feels good to be doing something and not just talking about it as there is not that much i have found you can get involved in in Glasgow, weathers holding out well today so outlook is good that way.

WY, wish I'd known bout this sooner and I would have def made the effort to come. Unfortunately I live 100 miles from Glasgow and btwn the costs of travel, finding a non-user to stay with (not easy, most of my Glasgow friends are still using), and the difficulty of getting my meth away means it looks unlikely if not impossible to make it! Let us know how it goes and enjoy yourself! xx

Yesterdy was a great day the weather was good and it felt really good to be part of something good, i think that we showed that we can behave in a pefectly normal way there were lots of recoverd and recovering addicts there so i didn't feel out of place i think i made a few friend(but i know I have to be careful, im to easily lead, but im learning). I think the alliance would have been pround of the turnout although i think it could have been better, personnaly i dont think it was advertised well enough, i only found out through a friend that does voluntary work for a cares centre(they had all free pases sent out to them) where i used to do the cleaning then looked at it in the DDN, i would do it again and there wasn't any problems with being a steward in fact it made me feel more invloved in the whole day, i heard the the seminar was worth going to although i didn't go, but im glad i did what i did.
