Hi, I was just wondering if anybody had read the 2009 edition of this book. It's quite heavy going at times & packed full of information which has been backed up by different references from UNDOC, UN. It really does shed some light upon the heroin trade, I always had an idea Governments were involved in the drugs trade but this book gives you the hard facts & surprise, surprise, who is it that have got their dirty great thumbs in it...the U.S.A. If I was still using gear daily I would certainly feel very guilty about it, talk about fair trade ? Very few opium farmers want to grow it but are forced into it because of the war economy their only other option is to either say no to the tribal leaders (who trade opium witharms dealers, probably C.I.A) which would result in punishment, or starve as there are very few crops that are suitable for the mountanious areas. Anyway, it's a bloody good book looking at the heroin trade globally more from the point of view of the suppliers rather than street level. I think the average in Afghanistan last year which was 1 of there biggest opium harvests was $36/ Kg! No wonder it's one of the worlds biggest economies.
