Hi Everyone,

Hope this finds you all well,if not hang in there...any man can fight the battle of one day!!!

I have a problem and dont know what to do??

I have the chance of a great job and career opertunity but there is absolutely no way i will be able to do this job whilst on a methadone script.I am currently on 100ml having came down with no real problems from 160ml at 10ml a month.Once i went to come down to 95ml i hit a brick wall, felt terrible, cramp, toilet etc, full withdrawl!!

The training for this job starts in August, how can i possibly come off 100ml before then?? Go cold turkey, use gear,is there a rapid detox available, rehab!!!
I was saying to my friend earlier, what options do i have,if any??

Im in Scotland so i dont know if the system is different up here>>Please, any ideas would be appreciated as this job is something ive always wanted to do but how do i get off this "Stuff"

Any thoughts or opinions would be appreciated, care enough to share with me PLEASE!!!

Hi Stevie

I'm not sure if I can help but in order to give it a try I need a little more information. You say there's no way you can do this job whilst on a methadone script; why is this? The training starts in August, how long does it go on for and is there any possibility that you could stay on methadone whilst doing the training? I know you say that once you hit 95 mls you go into full withdrawals but do you think part of that might be psychological? I do know what I'm talking about Stevie because I've been where you are but found that once I was busy and not thinking solely about my methadone I sometimes even forgot to take it. Stevie, I feel as if I'm banging my head against a brick wall because I really don't know enough about your situation to be able to give any useful advice. Please give us a little more information and maybe we can be of some help. If you wish, write to me off list but ideally we should sort it out on the forum. I know you haven't had much of a response but I honestly believe that's because people are not quite sure how to advise you because of the lack of information.

Take care.

Hi Beyl,
.
Thanks for taking the time to take an interest and for taking 5 mins to write a response.

The job i have the chance of getting is in a Treatment Centre and there is no way i would get the job even although i am morely qualified with traing as a Threrapist  spesializing in Addiction,so the only way i would even be considered for the job was  unless i was totally abstinent.

So Beryl i dont know what you can do now but the only way would be to come off Methadone,is it possible,if so how.Someone told me to use gear then come off the gear which i know is easier than tryin to come off Methadone as i came off 60ml this way a number of years ago!

Do you know of any places in Scotland that woulg give a rapid Detox?

The Treatment Centre i could have the job in gives you 50ml when you arrive then 10ml less each day for 3 days then down in 2mls for 5days so its just over a week then you still have a couple  of weeks of feeling Shity and thats in a Treatment Centre, not death by Duvet!! Doing it at home would make it easier to go and use once the Horrors kick in!!

I have my Doctors in the next week and she is a doctor Trained in Addiction,an absolutely fantastic Doctor,so i will see what she has to say.

Thanks again Beryl for your reply, something that has been lackin somewhat on this HELP Forum!!

Take Care and Best Wishes  Stevie x
