Ben; the diary of a herion addict

Hi all - just wondered if anyone watched the programme on sky 3 last night. If not it is really well worth a watch. This guy came from a very loving family and seemed to have an ideal childhood and upbrining - living in what looked liked a beautiful sleepy little village in the English countryside. He dabbled in various drugs at first, tried herion and got hooked, shocked at just how difficult it was to get off. His parents and family tried to help him, paid for expensive rehabs a number of times - which didn't work. He had had a great job, - but couldn't hang on to it once things got really out of control. He loved filming hence him filming himself and his family - like a diary of what was happening to him and how herion had taken over his life. His dad should have retired but couldn't because he had spent a lot of his savings on rehab. His dad was diagnosed with cancer and didn't have long to live - and this had quite an effect on Ben - for the first time he tried to get help for himself and was booked to go into rehab. He went in and the next day he died - a brain heamorage due to the effects of withrawal. His dad died 9 weeks later. It was so sad, such a tragic story - he was such a nice guy, very likeable with a lovely family. Herion doesn't care who you are, where you come from - once it's got its hooks into you it'll sit there on your shoulder and destroy the real you if it can. alli x

I had the pleasure/ upset of watching this powerful film a few months ago.
Good to watch for whatever your reasons, i am naive when it comes to Heroin abuse and treatment and this piece was both educational and personal.
Thoughts and wishes of support to those whom are struggling.

I didn't get to see much of it Alli but I believe it's being repeated on Monday at 9pm on Sky 3 again so will endeavour to watch it then.
