Anyone seen this? I watched Grizzly Man the other day. It's a documentary film by Werner Herzog about a bloke called Timothy Treadwell.

Timothy Treadwell was an ex user who got away from drugs and drink by focussing his time and energy watching and filming grizzly bears on the Alaskan coast line.  A strange character who spent 13 seasons with the bears though sadly both he and his girlfriend ended up as snacks for a hungry old bear. Interesting viewing if you get the chance.

yea, - watched it last week, it was very interesting.  I thought it was just the alcohol he had been into but I didn't watch it to the end.  I thought the way he spoke to the animals a bit weird - it was as if he humanised them.  He obviously had a great love for them though, and it would have been nice if he had been employed and trained by some bear charity.  alli x

interesting piece, I agree. I must say the main protagonist came trough as a bit of a crazy guy, to tell the truth. it seemed like his heart was in the right place, but ultimately he seemed somehow misguided, if I can say that.

I watched "encounters at the end of the world", herzog's latest documentary, couple of days ago. it was pretty amazing.

I've seen it too. It was irritating in much the way cheesy horror films are irritating. You wanted to keep shouting at the screen, 'Don't go up to that scary haunted house in the middle of the night, you fool! Stay safely in your locked car and wait for help!'.

The boy who got eaten was just too stupid to elicit any sympathy from me.

why do people fuck around with Grizzlys, Chimpanzees, Lions and other wild and wonderful apex predators for gawds sake !!??

The goon in this documentary was always going to end up having his head chewed off.
Just like that stupid bitch who's chimpanzee scalped her best friend then tried to bite her hands and legs off.
Then there is the so-called wrestling grizzly. Supposed to be tame. Tore out a stuntman's jugular and killed him 'whilst playing'

The list goes on and on, fucking idiots I have no sympathy for.
Bottom line is big and scary wild animals should be in the wild and left the hell alone.
Try and domesticate them - someone will die.
Try and make like you got some natural affinity with them in the wild - someone will die.

These wild predators always end up killing the stupid human who got too close, then what happens? fucking rangers/trappers/police/wildlife services are told to 'euthanize' the 'dangerous animal'
Well next time 'euthanize' the dumb fuck who thinks he is the next David Attenborough *before* the stupid bastard starts trying to stroke a grizzly's head or kiss a 25 foot Great White.
