Did anyone see the programme on cannabis on bbc2, on Tuesday night?

I could'nt believe what I was hearing when the programme discussed how cannabis can be, and is, legally prescribed in california for a variety of reasons; including anxiety, and "to enchance creativity" in say an artist with writers block. It is legal to prescribe for medical reasons under californian state law, but is illegal under federal law.

It even showed you a cannabis 'pharmacy', where the patient takes their script, and selects the bud of their choice.

I thought the programme was fascinating, especially the experiments with rats to see if cannabis led to harder drugs...another myth dispelled thank goodness!  John Marsden presented it well.

I thought this was a great show too, and I thought John Marsden did a really good job and presented a really balanced argument. (And what a hunk! I've heard him speak before, but don't recall him being that handsome.)

I was a bit disappointed with his cop out ending though, about how 'the real damage from cannabis are the opportunities lost -- time spent smoking when you could be doing other things)

I mean what the hell *doesn't* that apply to, including sitting and watching him on the telly! If you derive real pleasure from smoking (and I don't, but I used to in the past), then why doesn't that count as a valid/valuable use of your leisure time?

The rest of the show was great though.
