Back on the subject, could it be that users are selling their meth to others who are not in treatment at in increased value because of the sizes / quality of gear on the streets now ?
That's a fantastic initiative ( not ). Those that are in treatment are getting pressured to reduce & those relying on the black market prefer to hold on , getting buy hoping that quality will improve. Hearing stories about time-limits & " encouraged " reductions is hardly going to send an addict to the door of the DSP.
Not very well thought out as far as I see.

I understand the pull you get on the gear/we all know, some people will go to the ends of the earth for a couple of bags or whatever, what i cant fathom out is the amount of people who say they have exhausted all efforts to obtain street heroin but are still using it knowing the gear is substandard,I could even say shit, sometimes you aint even getting gear. When all their efforts are "TO SCORE" when in climates like  this ,why not put their efforts into getting something that would take the pressure off, Thats we're I would be  back in the day,we all had places we could go,where you'd get mst's,diconal(when they were'nt retired)DF's,I know it aint the same a banging  it up or a chase .At the end of the day its self preservation, you gotta think of yourself ,we all know its a selfish old man is the Heroin.I always had at least a couple of hundred DF's i could get me hands on,and then go hunting for the gear,or what ever comes your way that day ,but your only ever thinking of the next day ,there were times i didnt sleep because i had to be  ok when i woke up and it was always the lack of the gear inside me that woke me up lol.Methadone was something i didnt buy ,god knows why i must of been on a different planet ,oh yeah i was Grin, thinking about it I could of bought 100mil a day for a couple of bags, yeah id buy it, but not as much as i should have.Think i could of been the first corner shop selling methadone lol,now thats a thought lol.All the best Froude

I have been meaning to ask this question for a while now...

Has anyone got any idea why methadone has shot up in street value? I can remember in the mid to late nineties you could buy 100ml of 1mg/1ml for £5, now you mostly have to pay £10 for the same amount. I appreciate that the value of a £5 note is now lower than it was in the nineties, but Inflation does'nt really affect drugs. In fact, most other street drugs have decreased in value since the nineties? The only reason I can think of is the impact supervised consumption has had on availability?
[/quote   Back in the early to md seventies methadone used to go for an incredible 5pound for juice  thirty ml  an amp would cost five quid for a five mg  in 1ml,these were the prices round Corby  and kettering back in the day

I think it might have something to do with the fact that service users are being pushed off scripts, either quicker than they want, or completely, and as such demand has increased.
People who've been only using methadone for a while and are being forced to reduce, perhaps they don't want to go back to using gear so are buying methadone?

How many more people have to OD, how many more people to contract BBV's, how many more families ripped apart before the NTA realise their folly?!

How long will it be before the criminal market profiteer's catch on to the rise in street value & start producing their own dubiously made product ? It didn't take them long to start knocking out dodgy benzo's by the millions once GP prescribing guidlines were tightened.
It's been said a million times before & just the other day by a MP from the  House of Common's select commitee that " prohabition just simply does not work ".
Pushing people off their scripts is prohibiting them from leading ordinary stable lives & pushing them back into the criminal world of scoring , grafting not to mention all the health risks that Sapph mentions above.
Opiate use has been around in one form or another for thousand's of years, it'll never stop. To think that it will is extremely niave, verging on ignorant.

I have just read the last post and  got very wound up.
Andy - most people? Speak for yourself and the people you associate with!
These kind of comments do nothing for the those who genuinely are trying to sort their drug problem out. We have enough of an up hill struggle in treatment without comments like these.
BTW selling a couple of hundred ml may only stop you rattling; and someone else's heart beat.

It wound me up also to read that stupid bloody posting,is andy working for the abstinence cut em all off jihadi warriors.such remarks are exactly the sort of fuel picked up and used by those who seek to eliminate mmt.Andy is a twat, and if the people he is on about as associates do and think the same as him they are as well. Many years ago at a drug in centre a reorter from a local radio station had come along to listen to what users had to say,one of the ",andys!,present answered one of the questions as to how many people di he think used ampheatamine in the city as around thirty per cent, stupid ridiculous number ,of course it is,but the reporter from radio cambridge picked up on this bloke as a target and got him spouting all sorts of rubbish, did they broadcast the rubbish, course they bloody did.One of the managers of the drop in tried to intervene and correct some of the more outlandish figures or comments, did he get much airplay when the show was aired after being ,cut, doctored ,pasted etc all ready for joe public, did he hell. What I am saying is that postings such as Andys are bloody dangerous and would lead even the most trusting in human nature to wonder what intention lay behind said posting.Just look how many people came away from listening to a radio cambridgeshire news show special about amphetamine use in the city of peterborough(twenty or so years ago)thier heads filled with ",factual ",knowledge gathered by the trudsted female investgative reporter.Myself I think the bloke got carried away as the reporter was a really attractive, right on",trendy",dressed blonde young lady and he would say anything to keep her attention.(I know stereotypes and all that ,but in that instance such things did have a strong influence leading to a masss of misleading imformation being broadcast over cambrdidgeshires airwaves.
