I always worry about people who are grieving over a lost one, who go on to start campains to fight what they believe is the sole cause of their lossed ones life. I am aware the growth of methadone in the states has skyrocketed over the past tens years in pain management due to the lower cost ratio to other pain management medications. I think what they have is more people being prescribed the drug for pain management than opiate dependency and the high level of drug over doses are more associated to the under managed pain control group. I am sure their are numerous prejudices why one group recieves more controlled prescribing and dispensing than the other however, I do think they need to be clear on what the problem is, which is low cost prescribing at high cost results...
