A "Thanks" system intead of "Karma"

Following the recent temporary suspension of the "karma" system, i suggest that the karma system is way to open for ABUSE, therefore i think that a system of simply "thanking" a post for its contribution could be a good idea- ie. there would be a "thanks" next to the quote on a post and if someone finds the post to be useful in contribution, they press on the "thanks" and over time the more useful posts will have the most "thanks" from other users, ie. at the bottom of each post, it would say "The following 3 users say "thanks" to mcdermott for this useful post" This way its simple, fair and immune to abuse.

Edit: Well, last night I installed two different versions, but neither one worked. I have got a version of Karma that reveals who it was that reduced (or increased) your Karma, and what their reasons for doing it were, so I might give that a try. It makes people more accountable for their decisions. But I'd like to reset all previous karma points so everyone was working from a fresh, level playing field.
